Fall 2025: Homeschool Series

The Fall 2025 Homeschool Series will be offering three different 4-class series this Fall. Students will be grouped by age group. In the morning ages 6-8 will be together, while ages 9-12 will be together. Then in the afternoon ages 13-18 will be all together.

September 4, 11, 18, 25

(Ages 6-8 & 9-12) Modified to Make It: Ever wonder why tigers have orange and black stripes? Why do fish have scales instead of feathers? And why in the world do narwhals have one really large overgrown tooth? In this Homeschool Series, students will explore the animal kingdom to learn why animals look the way they do! We will learn about these physical animal adaptations through activities, crafts, science experiments, games, animal encounters, and more!

(Ages 13-18) Zoom into Cell Biology: How can something so small be the building block of something as big as a giraffe? In this Homeschool Series, students will zoom in on the microscopic world to explore what makes up all living things—cells! We'll discover how cells work, what they’re made of, and how they help animals grow, move, and survive. Through hands-on activities, experiments, games, crafts, and animal encounters, students will uncover the fascinating inner life of creatures at the zoo, one cell at a time.

October 2, 9, 16, 23

(Ages 6-8 & 9-12) Pollinators in Action: In this Homeschool Series, students will dive into the colorful world of pollinators—the busy helpers behind blooming flowers, tasty fruits, and healthy ecosystems. We’ll learn how bees, butterflies, birds, and other animals move pollen, why it matters, and how we can help them do their job. Through crafts, games, zoo walks, science experiments, and up-close encounters with pollinators, kids will explore the important role these tiny heroes play in the natural world.

(Ages 13-18) It's in the Genes: How can animals inherit their parents' traits—and sometimes end up with something totally unexpected? In this Homeschool Series, students will explore the fascinating science of genetics—how traits are passed down, how genes work, and how the tiniest changes can lead to big differences in the animal kingdom. Through hands-on labs, interactive activities, games, and animal encounters, students will uncover the hidden blueprints behind every living thing.

October 30, November 6, 13, 20

(Ages 6-8 & 9-12) Invasive Invaders: What happens when a plant or animal ends up where it doesn’t belong? In this Homeschool Series, students will explore the wild world of invasive species—from fast-growing plants to animals that take over new homes. We’ll learn how invasive species spread, what makes them successful, and how they affect ecosystems. Through games, crafts, hands-on science, and animal encounters, students will discover what it takes to protect native wildlife—and how we can all help!

(Ages 13-18) Evolution in Progress: Why do animals look and behave the way they do? And how can tiny changes over time lead to entirely new species? In this Homeschool Series, students will explore the science of evolution—how life changes, adapts, and diversifies across generations. Using real-world examples from zoo animals and wild ecosystems, we’ll investigate natural selection, common ancestry, adaptation, and the fossil record. Through interactive activities, experiments, discussions, and animal encounters, students will gain a deeper understanding of how evolution shapes the living world around us.
